Trinity College London was founded as the external examination board of Trinity College of Music and began offering exams in music to external students in 1877. In India, it is operating for more than 125 years. In 2012, the exam board introduced Rock & Pop graded examinations for bass, drums, guitar, keyboards, and vocals.

The successful candidate receives a certificate issued by TCL. Since 2010, AMEC is successfully preparing students for Trinity College London examinations with candidates mostly being awarded the highest recognition, distinction followed by merit. The examinations are held twice a year.
