Achievements of Academy For Musical Excellence – AMEC 12 Glorious Years

2020

  • AMEC 10 Glorious Years celebrations began with the launch of the achievements brochure. The brochures were presented to Mr Nicholas Low, The British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Andrew Ford, the 1st Consul General of Australia in Kolkata, Mr Masayuki Taga, Hon’ble Consul General of Japan and Dr Michael Feiner, Hon’ble Consul General of Germany at an event in Novotel.
  • AMEC 10 Glorious Years was celebrated with a 10 hours non-stop concert. More than 350 students participated in the concert at ICCR.
  • Ms SweeyaSantipitaks, the Hon’ble Consul General of Thailand was the Chief Guest for the morning session.
  • Mr Masayuki Taga, The Consul General of Japan was the Chief Guest for the afternoon session.
  • Mr Jurgen Thomas Schrod, Deputy Consul General of Germany graced the concert as the Guest of Honour.
  • Shri Goutam De, Regional Director, ICCR, graced the concert as the Guest of Honour.
  • Mr. Fabrice Plancon, Director Alliance Francaise du Bengale graced the concert as the Guest of Honour.
  • Ms Amy Gradin, Consular Officer, US graced the concert and motivated the students with an inspiring speech.
  • A master class and seminar presented by Musicea Key Executive Dr Rupert Avis, the University of York in January 2020.
  • Dr Michael Feiner, Hon’ble Consul General of Germany visited AMEC during Holi in March. The students of AMEC celebrated the moment with a concert.
  • The Indian Museum in association with Academy for Musical Excellence, AMEC celebrated World Music Day on 21st June 2020.
  • The Indian Museum in association with Academy for Musical Excellence, AMEC celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2020.
  • Piano Students of AMEC participated in the "Celebrating Beethoven 250th birth anniversary digital concert" presented by Musicea Arts and Culture Council along with students from different countries. The Ambassador of Austria to India was the Chief Guest.

2019

  • Mr Surendranath Majumdar and Ms Ruchika Majumdar attended the 24th International Kodaly Symposium, Kuching, Malaysia.
  • Students of AMEC performed in the Italian Opera Concert presented by The Italian Consulate, ICCR, and Musicea Arts and Culture Council in October 2019.
  • Professor Fabio Marra, Pianist and Angela Papale, Soprano conducted master classes at Academy for Musical Excellence, Tollygunge and Kasba branch. All students received participation certificates autographed by the masters.
  • Students of AMEC participated in the 6th Yuva Music Festival concert at Gyan Manch. The Kodály inspired children music education students received certificates from Mr Masayuki Taga, Hon’ble Consul General of Japan, Mr ZhaLiyou, Hon’ble Consul General of China and Ms TiphaneMayran, Deputy Director, Alliance Francaise.
  • Teachers of AMEC also received special Diplomas from Mr Masayuki Taga, Hon’ble Consul General of Japan, Mr ZhaLiyou, Hon’ble Consul General of China and Ms TiphaneMayran, Deputy Director, Alliance Francaise.
  • AMEC celebrated Diwali with Mr and Mrs Andrew Ford, Consul General of Australia at the Kasba branch. More than fifty students took part in the concert.
  • AMEC celebrated Durga puja with Mr Masayuki Taga, Hon’ble Consul General of Japan at the Kasba branch. More than fifty students took part in the concert. The special occasion became memorable with Mr Taga's Horn recital. Susmit De and VashuTangri accompanied him on the Piano.
  • AMEC celebrated Mahalaya with Mr Damiano Francovigh, Hon’ble Consul General of Italy. More than sixty students sang and danced with songs related to Durga Puja.

2018

  • AMEC opened a new campus at Kasba. Mr Fabrice Flancon, Director, Alliance Francaise graced the first concert presented on the new campus. The moment was celebrated with a concert and colours of Holi.
  • A team of Japanese delegates from Roland Corporation, Japan visited the new branch.
  • Students participated in concerts, master classes all throughout the year. Students won awards at the prestigious Yuva Music Festival Inter-School competitions.
  • Most students scored distinction and merits including several toppers at the international music examinations.

2017

  • Launch of the Music Teacher Training course based on the principles of Zoltan Kodaly. Teachers from Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune became the first batch of teachers to participate in the three-day training program. Musicea awards the certification.
  • Musicea in association with AMEC presented a concert dedicated to the Indian Army.
  • Students of AMEC participated in a concert presented by Indian Museum to celebrate Earth Day.
  • Students of AMEC participated in a concert presented by Alliance Francaise du Bengale.
  • Students participated in concerts, master classes all throughout the year. Students won awards at the prestigious Yuva Music Festival Inter-School competitions.
  • Most students scored distinction and merits including several toppers at the international music examinations.

2016

  • Mr Surendranath Majumdar successfully completed Kodaly Music Teacher Training at Kodaly Institute, Kecskemet, Hungary. He is the first Indian to attend classes at the Kodaly Institute, Hungary. Mr Majumdar studied with the greatest masters of Children's Music Education in the world.
  • Academy for Musical Excellence was honoured to perform in a concert at the inauguration of the new building of Alliance Francaise du Bengale at Park Mansion, Park Street.
  • AMEC conducted music classes at Don Bosco, Park Circus.

2015

  • A Masterclass and Workshop for Piano and Western Singing was conducted by Prof. Fabio Marra and Angelo Papale of Italy on 13th May 2015.
  • Yuva Music Festival 2015
  • 20 Concerts, 6 Talk Shows, 10 Competitions Spread from 9th May, ICCR to 3rd August, Science City, the second Yuva Music Festival is hosting more than 1500 participants from 51 schools, colleges, music schools and other institutions from Kolkata, Howrah and Haldia. The Festival this year has seen participation from French, Italian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, American and Pakistani Artists and personals. YMF is probably the most diversified music festival in the world with a wide section of musical genres from Blues, Rock, Western Pop to Indian Folk, Classical, Bollywood, Tollywood, Rabindra sangeet, Sufi, Fusion and own compositions are presented through Solo, Bands, Ensembles, and Orchestras.
    Some of the eminent names associated with YMF 2 are Cactus Band, Surojit Chatterjee (Bhoomi), Arko Mukherjee, Pt. Malhar Ghosh, Usha Uthup, Alokananda Roy, Agnimitra Paul, Cinematographer PremenduBikasChaki, Director Satrajit Sen, Lagnajita Chakraborty, Ujjaini Mukherjee, Antara Nandy, Aritra Dasgupta, Pt. Debasis Bhattacharjee and many more.
    Principals and Officials of reputed schools like La Martiniere for Boys, La Martiniere for Girls, Don Bosco, Indus Valley, Calcutta International, LSA, Loreto’s, and many more.

2014

  • In 2014 an International Cello Workshop along with the music of J.S Bach was presented by world renounced Cello artist – Christian Pierre La Marca.
  • Kanishka Saha became the 1st Indian Pianist to participate in Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Germany. A historic achievement for Kanishka, his teacher Mr Surendranath Majumdar and AMEC. This was a long-cherished dream and commitment of Mr Majumdar. He worked tirelessly in a very strategic way to accomplish this dream of representing India.

2013

  • An international Piano & Violin workshop was organized in May’13. Ms ChihoTotagawa from Holland conducted the session along with Professors of Music. Mr Jackson Fraser, an Australian Drummer conducted a Rhythm Workshop in June’13. An Accordion workshop was also presented.

2012

  • AMEC presented the 1st ROCKSCHOOL workshop in Eastern India on 19th February 2012. Mr Jeremy Ward, Executive Director Rockschool conducted the workshop. The workshop was a huge success with the participation of Teachers and Heads of different Music schools across Kolkata.
  • AMEC presented “Together Forever, a Musical Journey” on 1st May 2012 at Uttam Mancha. Concept & music arrangement by Mr Surendranath Majumdar. Design & Title by eminent artiste Mr Yadavendra Sen.

2011

  • Mr Surendranath Majumdar represented India in a Music Festival and performed at the historic Moscow Conservatory, Russia.
  • AMEC promoted Miss. Sharmi Chakraborty, a new vocal teacher and provided her with a placement in Garden High School as a full-time singing teacher.
  • Kanishka Saha participated in the national piano festival organized by the Pune Music Society. Four Piano students qualified for CrescendoII finals. Kanishka Saha& Soham Guha Thakurta received the first & second prizes.
  • Jeet Goswami, a student of AMEC’s “Music for All” initiative performed at the CSM’s Monsoon Concert. Later he also joined C4 as a guitar teacher. “India has got Talent Season 3” visits AMEC for an internal audition.
  • AMEC is the 1st Western Music School in Kolkata to recognize the contribution of Music Educators. AMEC presented Lifetime Achievement Award to Mrs Anita Hazra& Mrs Fauzia Marikar for their lifelong contribution to Western Classical Music in Kolkata.

2010

  • Mr Surendranath Majumdar participates in Sur Sangam, a professional teachers training program organized by Max Mueller Bhavan & Music University of Wuerzburg, Germany. Max Mueller Bhavan sponsors Jeet Goswami, a student of AMEC’s “Music for All’, to participate in the 1st Calcutta Classical Guitar Festival, December 2010.
